Keith Lloyd is Dean and Head of Swansea University Medical School and a clinical academic specialising in psychiatry. His research interests are psychiatric epidemiology, the management of mental disorders in primary care and community settings especially suicide and self harm, and patient perspectives. Increasingly his work draws on mental health informatics. Keith works clinically as a psychiatrist in Swansea's ABMU Health Board. Before taking up his current post, Keith was head of NISCHR - the Welsh Government body responsible for policy, strategy, and funding of health and social care research in Wales. Keith’s interests in patient perspectives has extended to research priority setting, and in 2013.

Keith became chair of the steering group for DUETS - the UK Database of Uncertainties about the Effects of Treatments - which is part of NHS Evidence. Keith chairs Mental Health Research Network Wales and the Welsh Psychiatric Society. Other activities includes chairing the Board of Swansea's Volcano Theatre Company, being a member of the professional reference panel for the mental health charity HAFAL, and a board member of Samaritans Cymru.
